ManualScout ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

Information We Collect

Photos and Images: When you use the photo scan feature, your image is uploaded to our server temporarily for product identification. Images are processed and then deleted from our servers. We do not store your photos permanently.

Search Queries: When you search for a product manual, your search query is sent to our server to find relevant results. We do not permanently store your search history on our servers. Search history is stored locally on your device only.

AI Chat Messages: When you use the AI troubleshooting feature, your questions are sent to our server and processed using Google Gemini AI. Chat conversations are not permanently stored on our servers.

Device Information: We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or other device-specific information.

Usage Data: The app tracks your daily AI question count locally on your device using on-device storage. This data is not sent to our servers.

Third-Party Services

ManualScout uses the following third-party services to provide its functionality:

• Google Gemini AI - For product identification and AI troubleshooting chat. Your questions and images may be processed by Google's AI services. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• SerpAPI - For searching the web for PDF manuals and for visual product identification via Google Lens. See SerpAPI's Terms.

Data Storage

ManualScout stores the following data locally on your device:

• Recent scan history
• Region/location preferences
• Manual type filter preferences
• Daily AI question usage count

This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the app.

Camera and Photo Library

ManualScout requests access to your device camera and photo library solely for the purpose of scanning products. Photos taken or selected are used only for product identification and are not stored permanently. The app will ask for your permission before accessing the camera or photo library.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is shared with third-party services (listed above) only as necessary to provide the app's core functionality.

Children's Privacy

ManualScout is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information processed through our app. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
